M.A.L. Huguet was born in Tudela de Navarra, Spain. Whilst studying for an Alabaster Technician Course
in Spain her work developed alongside technology and design. She moved to U.K. in 2002 to expand her horizons and
life experience. In 2004 she returned to her first love painting and gained a 2.1 class BA Honours Degree from the University of Kent and at present she is taking a MA in Fine Arts. Since then she has been very active producing art and live performances. Huguet's paintings develop from memories of past experiences: childhood, adulthood, family, and present events: places lived in and life experience. Huguet, grew up in a culture strong linked to bull's running and fighting, which has played an enormous part in her art and have led to re-define the legend of the Minotaur as the Minotaur Woman in U.K. For the last 3 years she has lived and worked in Wye ...... a temporary rural existence which has hugely influenced her work. She is interested in capturing the essence of human being which she believes resemblances to animal instincts, resulting in work that is dark, ambiguous and violent. Of her work Huguet says, "my work challenges all assumptions about what it means to be human by attaching the thought of a rational view of the world and the myth of progress and evolution. If there is a better world, this may be an illusion".
